    Your Privacy Or Is It.

Seen some things on 20/20 and Dateline i think it was.
Ok your walking down a street something bizarre happens to you.
Someone with a cell phone records it. Your all over the internet in a week.
Has your privacy been violated or did the person just hit the jack pot with a video, you knew nothing about, but showing you being humilitated, and it ending up all over the internet.
Sure some things are funny. But is this becoming something out of hand now. Is your privacy being taken away without your consent.
Or is it just a thing that now we should learn to accept. That at any given moment, we could get a photo taken and end up, all over the internet.
Something to consider. Is there privacy laws anymore. Or has things gotten a tad bit out of hand.

The law is now and has been that if you're on public property, your picture/image can be recorded without your permission. Many folks have the mistaken notion that your consent is required.

If I put myself in public, then I put myself out there for anyone to see. If I'm that paranoid I just wouldn't leave my house.

    You'll shoot your eye out.

So if your walking down the street wearing a dress and it blows up and you have on no undies. I catch it on my cell phone and put it on the net. You have no problems with that? Hmm ok.

If you're quick enough to catch that on a cell phone camera, you're [censored] [censored] [censored] good.

Ethically you'd be an [censored] for doing it and posting it. Note I've not said anything about the legalities of posting it. I do say ethically it's wrong.
If pushed yes it's possible legal action could go against you (not a lawyer so I'm not stating anything there as fact).. after all a typically non-public body part that was accidentally uncovered should have had some reasonable expectation of privacy.

There is some protection in the way of stalking laws/harassment laws, for those who have gone too far.

I myself would like to think I'd have the common sense to
    A) wear underwear
    B) Put my hands down to keep my dress where its supposed to be.

Try envisioning a more realistic scenario, and stop envisioning me without underwear.
    That's quite disturbing.

    You'll shoot your eye out.

I know but i think some get the big picture. At what point is your privacy being invaded. After it hits the net. New times. Maybe time to review the rules. If there is is any.

Not the educated view. The reality view. At what point do we review the rules to see what is invasion of privacy, even if you don't know your being invaded.
It does happen. We know most of the stars love it. But how about the ever day people.

Re: Your Privacy Or Is It.

As I've said for years - if you dont like it, do something about it. Lobby it. Write a bill.
Just griping about it on a forum isn't going to do anythng about it.

When you watch the news, see news clips out in a public place, do you think they got written consent from everyone that went through that shot? No, they didn't. When you see football games, and the crowd is shown, do you think they got consent? No, they didn't. National news, world news, local news, all the same.

If we change the law much, how does this affect the media?

There's a lot to look at there.
    You'll shoot your eye out.

It starts the questions don't it. Is it your privacy or is it not. Should your picture be allowed all over the net because your in public. Or you don't know it till it's to late.
Being a smart [censored] don't always help either. It's a question don't go postal about it. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

Re: Your Privacy Or Is It.

How can you go out in public and expect privacy?
    Private and public are opposites.
